Game of the Day

2011 September 17
by Skip Sauer

The pundits in the press –most of them, as usual — are missing the game of the day:  Auburn vs. Clemson.  The standard storyline is that this is a contest between last year’s national champs with a depleted roster versus a questionable, work-in-progress Clemson team.  Ho-hum you might say, but my bet is that a good many coaching staffs will be studying the tape of this game.  Why?  See the Post & Courier’s Travis Sawchick’s article, “Clemson, Auburn offensive coordinators on the cutting edge of college football.”  Innovation is integral to winning in sport, and coordinators Malzahn & Morris embody that spirit.   Go Tigers!

Good call on the game. I anticipate that FSU v. Clemson will also be huge, but even GameDay, which opted for West Virginia v. LSU, missed going to the true game of this weekend, in my opinion, OSU v. A&M. Loser of it goes to the Cotton Bowl, winner, more than likely, goes to the Fiesta.
