In November I posted about making the NFL Pro Bowl relevant. The NFL has announced that the 2010 Pro Bowl will be played in Miami the week before the Super Bowl.
Here is an ESPN article about the move, and one from the Honolulu Advertiser.
It is hard for me to imagine this move having significant impact on the economy of either Miami or Honolulu. It will be interesting to see if the NFL decides to link the Pro Bowl with the Super Bowl in the future.
The cynical part of me says this is all part of a grand scheme by the NFL to get Hawaii to build a state of the art stadium. Certainly many of the comments on the Honolulu Advertiser article remark about the need for an upgrade to Aloha Stadium. Many also criticize the state for not being effective at keeping the game in town.
